Mandala 3

This is the third mandala I've made. My friend C started me on making these. She wanted one that was 10cm to focus on while she gave birth. I forgot to take a picture of the one I made her. I made this one for me. The center circle is 10cm. When I started trying to make mandalas, I didn't think I would ever manage to make one, I made a lot of other art instead as I worked out how I could do something that required precision when I'm not really a precise kind of person...

View from Our Back Window

I was just looking through some pictures and am happy with my work in progress on the backyard. I used to hate opening the blinds on the backyard. When we first moved in, it was ligustrum, dead weeds/grass, and poison oak. So Ugly. The earliest picture I have is this one from when I just started working on things last fall, mostly in Sept/Oct.I really enjoyed the spring in my backyard even though I wasn't able to really get out much. The picture doesn't do justice to how beautiful and colorful the view was then. I loved looking out and seeing the birds, squirrels, cats, butterflies, bees, and other insects wandering through, but the best part was the flowers and only a 1/3 of the ones I planted were in bloom, plus my vetch cover crop.

The backyard is in serious need of weeding right now and that is after the Manperson already made two passes with the weed-eater and hand weeding. I'm hoping that more of my perennials bloom as the summer goes on. My rosebush that Jeremiah planted for me in December also bloomed. It looks happy, but I didn't manage to get pictures of it yet.
